The
crowning glory of every man and woman is their hair. As seen
throughout history, the hair has already been one of the vanities
of humans. In fact, it has even been proven to be a source of
weakness for some. Therefore, they make sure that they do
everything possible to keep their wonderful tresses healthy and
shining.
Caring for the hair also includes taking care
of the scalp. These two always go together. One cannot have great
looking hair without a healthy scalp. The hair is attached to the
scalp through a follicle, which is responsible for the stores of
oil, proteins, vitamins and minerals of the hair strand. Having
healthy hair means that there is a balance of these substances in
the scalp. When there is a deficiency of one of these substances,
for example, oil, then there is a tendency for the hair to become
dry and brittle. Often, flaking of the scalp may occur.
How is the hair and scalp taken care of? First
of all, make sure to keep it clean at all times. Take a bath or
wash it, especially when one has been outdoors. If clothes need to
be washed after use because of the dirt it accumulates, then why
not the hair?
Avoid using strong shampoos and conditioners.
If there are natural ingredients available, then it is more
beneficial for the hair. The strong chemicals can do much damage
to the hair and scalp. This is also the principle behind waiting
for several months after having hair treatment. This is to make
sure that the hair and scalp do not get bombarded with a lot of
harmful chemicals.
Lastly, make sure to take care of the entire body, and not just
the hair and scalp. Eating the right kind and amount of food,
having enough sleep, as well as getting adequate exercise can go a
long way in keeping the hair and scalp healthy and glowing, truly
a crowning glory.
